November 20, 2023: Bureau Veritas (BV), Shanghai Institute of Ship Design and Research (SDARI) and NAPA, completed the first stage of a joint project to ensure the approval of a ship design for a class based on a 3D model provided by the designer.
That is, instead of the traditional multiple conversion into 2D drawings, the verification of the class by society is based directly on the 3D model. This approach makes it possible to increase the efficiency of the design process, reduce time and costs, as well as improve communication between all parties of the design: shipyards, designers, shipowners and classification societies. The first stage of the project included testing the entire classification process to make sure that each stage was correct and to make improvements to the software, if necessary. During the project, SDARI used NAPA Steel software, and BV used NAPA Designer to generate calculation models and verify compliance with the rules. This is a new breakthrough in the creation of ships and ships. This will greatly simplify the processes of designing and building ships and ships. The future is already here.
